Mark Walters has been a practising lawyer for 36 years, and an accredited Family Law Specialist since 1989.

He was admitted to practice as a Barrister & Solicitor in Victoria in 1976. From the start he undertook family law work, but initially he also had a general practice undertaking work in criminal law, personal injuries and commercial litigation.

Accredited Family Law Specialist

Since the mid 1980s he has specialised in family law, and was one of the first group of solicitors to receive accreditation from the Law Institute of Victoria as a Specialist Family Lawyer.

He has wide experience, having conducted numerous cases on behalf of clients in the Family Court, the Federal Magistrates Court, and the Supreme and County Courts. Cases in which he has represented clients children's matters (including relocation, child abduction, and international child maintenance) and property matters including cases that involve complex questions of valuation and of trust and tax law.

As part of the litigation process he has represented his clients in every kind of mediation and negotiation.

Having seen at first hand how much better for the contesting parties a mediated solution is, as compared to a judgement imposed by a Court, Mark Walters is committed to the mediation process.

Mark Walters has undertaken and completed training in mediation, and has successfully conducted a number of mediations - successful in the sense that the parties in dispute have resolved matters in an acceptable and productive way.
